I’ll brave almost any gluten free challenge in the kitchen but I’ve yet to attempt a batch of homemade cinnamon rolls. The recipes for these marvelous baked goods from scratch are usually long and involved, and to me the risk of failure seems too great to bother. After all, how often does any combination of gluten free flours produce a light, doughy baked good? When I saw Chebe Cinnamon Roll Mix on the shelf at Wholefoods for just $3.99, I decided to give it a go. The finished product turned out surprisingly well, and I had two avid gluten eaters to vouch for it. Although the individual rolls are quite small (about the circumference of a muffin), the texture and flavor are just right. Crispy on the outside and gooey in the middle, they’re perfect right out of the oven, and probably great reheated later. Just be warned, one box produces only 6 or 7 rolls so buy a couple if you’re serving a crowd.
